From 2017 to 2018, I founded and facilitated an afterschool program, Interactive Mural Lab, at Patterson High School, Baltimore. I taught Arduino microcontrollers and sensors to 5-10 students every week for one year and co-created an interactive mural exhibited in the Baltimore Museum of Art and Maryland Institute College of Art.

We decided on the mural to celebrate the diverse background of the student body, as Patterson High School has the highest rate of foreign-born students. “The school is where our hearts are.” When a metal hand on each continent is touched, blood/LED light flows into the heart, just like when each student arrives at school.
